No wonder the majority of republicans are supporting “none of the above” hoping a better candidate will jump in the race. The Republican presidential candidates are far outside the mainstream, making remarks that are dangerous and alarming. At the first debate most of the Republican candidates stood up in front of First Lady Nancy Reagan last week and told her in no uncertain terms they would not support federally-funded stem cell research. Mitt Romney said he thinks that it’s entirely possible that Iraq hid weapons of mass destruction in Syria (sound familiar, the politics of FEAR). On illegal immigration you have, Tom Tancredo stating that immigration is an “issue of our culture itself, and whether we will survive.” I think he foregot the “illegal” part. All they have left are old tired statements that no longer rally anyone. I think they are out of ideas as well as being out of touch with American mainstream.

Well that doesn’t fit the Bush administration’s agenda. Bush claims off the record back room no transcript “information” is as close as the democrats will get to the truth. They don’t want anyone to be able to detect whether or not they are telling the truth. Plain and simple under oath on the record forces the truth or serious consequences. Too risky they have never been in position where anything short of the truth is unacceptable. I say it is about time they had their feet to the fire. That’s politics, and if they don’t like it they should have choosen another line of work. It always tickles the shit out of me to hear a politician complain about their opponents “playing politics”. It is they game they all play on all sides of any issue. I say the person complaining about the other guy playing politics must be losing the game.

This could be an ominious sign of things to come. Maybe the democrats will get energized and make some serious gains in the midterm election this fall. It should be an interesting political season to say the least. A strong voter disguist may lead to huge losses by the gop. With a solid plan and some leadership the democratic party could actually spring to life.
